Preparing for the Ruckathon

We will not be providing backpacks for the Ruckathon. We're committed to maintaining an eco-friendly and sustainable event, so we encourage participants to bring their own backpacks.

Additionally, we're striving to keep costs minimal to ensure that most funds raised go directly to the programmes benefiting the beneficiaries. Your understanding and support in this matter are greatly appreciated.
We highly recommend you carry a backpack, that has two straps, ideally with padding so that it would be comfortable as you ruck.

To symbolise us uplifting the burdens on our beneficiaries’ shoulders, we hope everyone can carry a backpack.

Please bring your own essential items such as a filled water bottle, poncho, umbrella, light snacks, towel, sunblock, cap, sunglasses, and change of clothes.

For adults (> 12 years old), we encourage you to carry a backpack of minimum 5 kg, unless for health or medical reasons. Here are some items that you can fill your backpacks with:
  • More filled water bottles
  • Umbrella
  • Gym gears i.e. weights
  • Notebooks / Books / Textbooks
  • First aid kit
  • We encourage you to find items that are readily-available at home.
For children (6 to 12 years old) and anyone with health or medical concerns, we recommend them to carry an empty or light backpack, at a weight comfortable for them, with their essential items (examples as mentioned above).
Please come in your sports attire with comfortable footwear - covered shoes or boots with socks. No slippers/ sandals. You may also want to bring a change of clothes to change into after rucking!
Your safety is of utmost importance to us. If you are unsure about your ability to participate in the Ruckathon, or feeling unwell prior to the event, it is highly recommended that you seek medical advice from your doctor.
