The Challenge
In the journey of education, every child deserves an equal chance to thrive. Yet, for lower-resourced families with little bandwidth and resources, supporting adolescents in their development becomes a challenge.
Studies have shed light on how children facing adversity are more likely to have disrupted developmental trajectories. Thus, the longer we delay support for these children, the more difficult and costlier it will be to see them improve both academically and in other developmental aspects.
Our Aim
Our Academic Support and PSLE Readiness (ASPIRE) programme pilot is a proactive response to this pressing need. Recognising the significance of timely intervention, ASPIRE aims to provide a boost for Primary 6 students from lower-resourced families who may have missed essential early childhood development (ECD) interventions and lack crucial academic support. By providing timely and targeted assistance, we equip them with tools they need to excel academically and bolster their self-belief.
Through the programme, we create a supportive environment that fosters a positive attitude towards learning and putting in effort. With the access to mentors, the children can also have a safe adult who can journey with them as they work through the stressors of PSLE. Parents are also provided with information on how to support their child emotionally through this crucial year.

We see this programme as a catalyst to shape brighter futures for our young ones. With additional funding, we can extend our support beyond the programme’s duration, providing ongoing assistance to these families in need. This continuity is key to sustaining the positive impacts and fostering long-term growth in our communities.
