Growing up, Leon* often watched his father and grandfather go in and out of rehab and prison, leaving him to rely on his grandmother as his mother had also left the family. His grandmother sought help, unable to cope and worried that her grandchild would follow in his father's footsteps.

At six, a social worker referred him to Care Corner Student Care Centre (SCC), which provided financial aid and a nurturing environment that supported his education and personal development. For the next six years, Leon received help with his schoolwork and was placed in a nurturing environment that inculcated good values and habits.

Leon thrived at SCC, excelling in his PSLE and qualifying for the Express stream in secondary school. Today, as the team leader of his school's Wushu club, he channels his energy into positive pursuits, gaining discipline and confidence; just like how his time in SCC had nurtured him and allowed him to fulfil his potential.
